Dutch Windmill at Bargara - Restaurant

Home

Welcome to the website of The Windmill at Bargara.

The Windmill was built in 1991 by Rik and Kathy van Andel. They runned their coffeeshop and souvenirshop for several years.

After passing hands several times, The Windmill Restaurant was discovered by Isabel and Harald Hendriks in the summer of 2005.
During their summer holiday they met Rik van Andel on an almost empty beach in Caloundra, who told them of their property in Bargara. Even though there were no plans to go to Bargara, they made the detour and visited this beautiful village. This Dutch Windmill was very appealing and a big challenge.

So it fell back into Dutch hands in January 2006 and besides Australian Specials, real authentic Dutch food is back on the Menu.

In September 2006 the Restaurant was completely renovated and also the shop next doors belongs to The Windmill again. There is a permanent art gallery located in this building, where also functions or meetings can be held.

The Windmill can seat up to 120 people and is an ideal place to have your wedding or functions. We are Fully Licensed, so no BYO please!

We hope you enjoy exploring our site and hope we will see you soon at The Windmill at Bargara.
